The Real McCoys are doing something they have never done before – FREE admission for everyone – in exchange all they ask is patrons make a donation to Keaton’s House a Children’s Hospice being built in Dundas
Cambridge, ON – The Dundas Real McCoys of Allan Cup Hockey (ACH) are doing something very special for the community. Anyone that attends their game on December 13th, will receive free admission. In exchange, the Real McCoys are asking patrons to donate to a great cause.
Keaton’s House aims to provide a place where children facing a life-limiting condition, and their families, receive care and support in a home-like, child-friendly setting. This loving care continues as we support grieving families with a compassionate and holistic circle of care.
The need for a Children’s hospice is well warranted in the area. McMaster Children’s Hospital services 500,000 children across a region of over 2.3 million. This is greater than the population served by the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa and the associated pediatric hospice. Yet the children and their families do not have a children’s hospice or a pediatric palliative care team with the proper suite of tools.
The initiative plans to build a children’s hospice that will embrace children, families and caregivers throughout their journey. Our services will complement existing medical and social programs, bridge the gap between hospital visits and home care and provide services that neither the hospital nor an adult hospice offers.
The defending Allan Cup champion Real McCoys enter the game looking for their first win of the year. The team is comprised of a number of former players with professional experience, including some that have played in the NHL.
The Wentworth Gryphins, the 2025 Allan Cup hosts, come into the game with a .500 record. They have a lot of talent up front, including Alex Hutchings a Burlington minor hockey grad that just finished playing pro in 2023.
