OHA MOURNS THE LOSS OF BOB WILLIAMSON

‘Big Bob,’ a Sarnia-legend, was involved in hockey for over 50 years; he is remembered for his passion, humour and kindness

Cambridge, ON – The Sarnia-Lambton community is mourning the loss of a prominent figure in the local sports scene.

Bob Williamson passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12 at the age of 70.

In 1970, “Big Bob”, as he was affectionately known, started coaching football and lacrosse in the Sarnia Minor Athletic Association.

During the 1970s, Williamson was involved in coaching and managing teams in the township and Sarnia Minor Hockey Associations.

In 2008, Williamson became one of the owners and a director of the Sarnia Blast Hockey Club (now the Sarnia Legionnaires).

He served as general manager for several years, before before retiring in 2018.
