Cambridge, ON – the Ontario Hockey Association, as well as its member-leagues is saddened to learn about the passing of Craig Spence. He was a consistent performer and an excellent teammate all the while participating all three junior leagues in the OHA (OJHL, GOJHL, and PJHL).
Craig capped off his impressive 2023-2024 season capturing the top defenceman award in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division. Spence was the runner-up in the division’s scoring race with 74 points in 36 games. He scored 25 goals and assisted on 49.
Drafted by the Mississauga Steelheads in the 7th round of the 2018 draft was a leader and made everyone else around him better.
When reflected on Spence’s 2023-2024 season, Blades general manager Bob Price said. “He’s worked hard for the team and his personal goals and team goals. He elevates the play of those around him and is well respected in the dressing room, for sure.”
