The Lakeshore Canadiens say they’re deeply saddened by the passing of 20-year-old forward Sylvain Lessard.
The team posted about the passing of Lessard to their social media on Wednesday morning.
He played two years of Junior B with the Leamington Flyers.
The Flyers also posted to their social media, saying they’re deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of their former player.
Last year he joined the PJHL with the Wheatley Sharks, where he produced excellent offence numbers.
Lessard had only joined the Canadiens recently, where team officials say he immediately made an impact both on and off the ice.
In the post, Lessard was described as a great teammate and a joy to be around at all times, with an infectious smile and pleasant conversation that will be missed.
Lakeshore’s game against Dresden originally scheduled for Wednesday night has been postponed.
Team officials say their thoughts and prayers are with the Lessard family and his many friends at this time.
