Winning a bursary of this magnitude at such a young age goes a long way in personal growth. It’s life changing and sends the verve of the recipient on a different trajectory. “Being one of the recipients of the OHA Bursary Program changed my life by allowing me to help contribute towards my education. My family has always supported me throughout my entire life, and being able to contribute with this award was extremely meaningful,” said Robillard. “It proved to me the importance of my dedication to hockey, academics, and community involvement and to always give back. The award has made me realize the importance of continuing to volunteer with various organizations throughout my university years to help others in the community. Hockey will always continue to be a part of my life as it has benefited me in so many ways on and off the ice.”

Hockey teaches several life lessons. Not only balance and time management. But it also provides the tools to be successful down the line. “I have grown in being able to recognize that it is not just being successful in one of these things but in fact being able to focus and excel in a variety of them that makes you an all-around strong individual,” said Robillard.

Going through it and recognizing what it takes to be a Dairy Farmers of Ontario bursary recipient. As such, he has advice for anyone that is considering applying for the bursary program this year. “I would tell them that this Bursary truly does reflect the importance of education, hockey and giving back. Hockey is a big part of my life, but it has also shown me that the Bursary also values the importance of education and community involvement,” said Robillard. “To be successful in your future, this bursary is all about being able to balance hockey along with other important aspects of your life. It has helped me realize the importance of being a volunteer in your community and because of this I will continue to understand the importance of helping others and giving back in my own future.
